Who Are We
We are passionate, professional Ugandan animal welfare advocates and international organizations and donors supporting the efforts of implementing partners on the ground to ensure that every animal is treated with the dignity and respect they deserve as animals living in Uganda.
Our Mission
To facilitate collaboration among animal welfare advocates, to develop and promote uniform animal welfare standards in Uganda and to sensitize stakeholders about animal welfare organizations operating within Uganda.
Our Vision
To create a Uganda where all animals are treated with compassion, respect, and dignity.

AWAU will hold itself and its members accountable to the highest level of ethical behavior and responsibility for its actions, while maintaining integrity in performance. AWAU shall at all times uphold full transparency to its members, beneficiaries and partners, with respect to its financial undertakings, processes, operations, actions, and outcomes.

AWAU shall at all times aspire toward full, equal, and meaningful involvement of its members in the designing, planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating of the association’s policies and programs, at all levels of decision making.

AWAU shall at all times expect its members to be primarily motivated by a commitment to uphold a philanthropic spirit and not their own interests, financial or otherwise.

What We Achieved
Since its formation, AWAU and its members have reached thousands of animals and communities through vaccinations, spay and neuter programs, and welfare education. These efforts improve veterinary access, reduce rabies risk, promote humane treatment, and build lasting community trust toward a rabies-free, compassionate Uganda.
