Help us bring justice

& give 65 animals a second chance

In a landmark animal welfare operation, AWAU rescued 52 dogs and 6 cats from a notorious dog scam network in Mityana, Uganda. These animals are now under our care while the criminal case moves to trial. We need your support to see justice through and rehabilitate every animal for adoption.

How this happened

This operation began with a tip from one of our trusted animal welfare advocates in Uganda. It led to a BBC documentary  filmed in Uganda in the summer of 2025  exposing the dog scam network operating out of Mityana. What followed was one of the most significant animal rescue operations in Uganda’s history.

The BBC documentary brought international attention to a local crisis. Our team on the ground turned that spotlight into real action.
