We are Uganda's animal welfare community, passionate advocates, professional organizations, and international partners working side by side on the ground. Together we develop uniform welfare standards, support verified member organizations, and ensure every animal in Uganda is treated with the dignity and respect it deserves. This is not just a mission statement. It is the founding commitment every AWAU member is held to.

Every organization in the AWAU network is registered with Uganda's governing and licensing agencies and held to a founding constitution. Donors and foundations can give with confidence, knowing their support reaches legitimate, accountable organizations doing real work on the ground.
Individual organizations rarely have the reach to influence national legislation. As an alliance, AWAU's Policy Committee works directly to review Uganda's existing animal welfare laws, draft model welfare standards, and advocate for reforms that protect animals at a systemic level, not just case by case.

Since its formation, AWAU and its members have reached thousands of animals and communities through vaccinations, spay and neuter programs, and welfare education. These efforts improve veterinary access, reduce rabies risk, promote humane treatment, and build lasting community trust toward a rabies-free, compassionate Uganda.
