By accessing and using the AWAU website and services, you agree to the following terms. Please read them carefully before using our website, submitting any forms, or engaging with our alliance in any capacity.
Effective Date: January 1, 2026
By accessing and using the Animal Welfare Alliance Uganda (AWAU) website at animalwelfareuganda.org, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our website or services.
These terms apply to all visitors, users, prospective members, donors, Guardians, and anyone interacting with AWAU through our website or any of our digital platforms.
Animal Welfare Alliance Uganda (AWAU) is a registered non-profit alliance established under the Republic of Uganda Companies Act 2012. AWAU is governed by a founding constitution ratified by all member organizations and operates exclusively for charitable, educational, and scientific purposes. AWAU does not operate for the making of profit or personal financial gain.
You agree to use the AWAU website only for lawful purposes and in a manner that does not infringe the rights of others or restrict their use and enjoyment of the website. Specifically you agree not to:
Membership in AWAU is governed exclusively by the AWAU founding constitution, specifically Articles 5 and 6. By submitting a membership application you confirm that:
AWAU reserves the right to reject, suspend, or terminate any membership in accordance with the procedures set out in the founding constitution.
By submitting an adoption inquiry through our website you confirm that:
AWAU and its member organizations reserve the right to decline any adoption application at their discretion in the best interests of the animal.
The Guardian program allows individuals and organizations to financially support a specific animal in AWAU's care. By signing up as a Guardian you confirm that:
All donations made to AWAU are processed through Donorbox and are subject to Donorbox's terms of service and privacy policy. By making a donation you confirm that:
AWAU maintains full financial transparency in accordance with Article 10 of our founding constitution. All expenditures are approved by both the Treasurer and the Chairperson and all payments exceeding 500,000 Uganda shillings are made by cheque or bank transfer.
All content on the AWAU website — including but not limited to text, images, logos, graphics, and design — is the property of AWAU or its respective member organizations and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or use any content from this website without prior written permission from AWAU.
Our website may contain links to third party websites and services including Donorbox and member organization websites. These links are provided for your convenience only. AWAU is not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or terms of service of any third party website or service. We encourage you to read the terms and privacy policies of any third party service before using it.
AWAU provides this website and its content on an "as is" basis without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that:
AWAU makes every reasonable effort to ensure the accuracy and availability of our website but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service.
To the fullest extent permitted by the laws of Uganda, AWAU and its Executive Committee, member organizations, officers, and volunteers shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of or inability to use the website or any content or services provided through it.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless AWAU, its Executive Committee, member organizations, officers, and volunteers from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses — including legal fees — arising from your use of the website, your violation of these terms, or your violation of any applicable law or the rights of a third party.
These Terms of Service shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Uganda. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of the AWAU website shall be resolved in accordance with Article 11 of the AWAU founding constitution — first through internal mediation and if necessary through binding arbitration by a mutually agreed upon party.
AWAU reserves the right to update or modify these Terms of Service at any time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Your continued use of the website following any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms. We encourage you to review these terms periodically.
Donations and Guardian contributions are non-refundable unless AWAU determines otherwise at its sole discretion. All contributions are processed securely through Donorbox and go directly toward the care of the animals in our alliance.
Membership is governed by Articles 5 and 6 of the AWAU founding constitution. Your organization must meet the eligibility criteria set out there, and applications are reviewed by the Membership Committee and Executive Committee before approval.
No. Submitting an inquiry starts the process, but AWAU and its member organizations reserve the right to decline any application at their discretion, in the best interests of the animal.
